WHAT IS FREEDOM FENCE™

What is Freedom Fence™

Freedom Fence™ is a system for keeping pets within the boundary of a property without the need to install and maintain an unsightly and extremely expensive traditional fence.

The Freedom Fence™ is a training system which, because pet behaviour is usually easy to condition, succeeds in substituting a psychological boundary for a physical one.

Buy from us and you buy our expertise and technical support for the full life of your Freedom Fence. We want your ownership of a Freedom Fence to be a happy experience for you and your pets.

How it Works

A wire is laid around the perimeter of the property or chosen area and is either buried a couple of centimetres underground or attached to existing fencing.

A transmitter sends a low power, low frequency radio signal continuously around the wire which acts as an aerial.

Your pet (or pets - there can be any number of them on the same system) wears a battery-powered receiver collar (cats & dogs) or a rechargeable collar (dogs) which picks up a coded signal from the wire. When the pet comes within the signal range (adjustable from 2m/6ft to over 5m/15ft), he hears a continuous warning beep from the receiver which he must learn to obey.

If he ignores the warning - as he may just a few times at the beginning - he receives a correction similar to a TENS machine.

The correction doesn't harm him at all, but it startles him, and he doesn't want to repeat the experience.

Most pets are trained within a week, and everyone can then begin to enjoy the benefits of the Freedom Fence™.

FAQ

Can I have more than one dog on the system?

Yes, there is no limit to the number of cats and dogs you can have using the Freedom Fence. Each pet will need their own collar and should be individually trained. It is important that any new pets introduced to the Freedom Fence are trained to the system.

What happens if I have dogs and cats?

The Freedom Fence can be used for both cats and dogs together, care needs to be taken on installation to make sure that there are no areas where the cat may climb or jump.

Can I use the Freedom Fence to keep other dogs and cats out of my garden?

No, unfortunately the fence only works for pets wearing a collar which will usually be your own cat and dog.

What happens when I want to take my dog for a walk?

It is important to always remove your dog’s collar when you wish him to cross the boundary. The dog will associate wearing the collar with staying within the boundary of the Freedom Fence. It is not necessary to turn off the Freedom Fence. Do not allow the dog to cross the boundary whilst wearing the collar, even if the Freedom Fence is switched off.

How do you lay a wire across my drive?

We have been installing Freedom Fences for over 30 years, our very experienced installers have laid Freedom Fences across many drives. The technique we use to lay the Freedom Fence across your drive will depend on the material your drive is made from. We will discuss this fully with you, prior to installation of your Freedom Fence.

What happens if there is a power cut?

Provided your pet has been properly trained this will not be an issue, as long as you don’t tell it that there is a power cut!

Can I install the fence myself?

Yes, you can, and we are always available at the end of the telephone to give advice, during installation, and for the life of your ownership of a Freedom Fence.

What happens if I move house?

You can take the collar and transmitter with you, but we advise that you use new wire at your new property.

What our customers say ...

“Without my Freedom Fence I would not feel safe letting my cats outside.”

“I have used this for my cats for many years, right from when they were kittens; now they very rarely challenge the fence once they hear the ticking, they know not to go any further.”

“I am a veterinary surgeon who owns a freedom fence. This electronic containment device has been essential in providing our dog his freedom. The electronic fence enables us to allow our dog unfettered access to the garden whenever he wishes as we know that he will be fully contained.”

“We are delighted with our Freedom fence and the dogs never go near it and it will certainly have saved their lives.”

“We love our freedom fence for our Bengal. It keeps him safe in our garden and it means he does not need to be an indoor cat like so many are.”

“We have been using a Freedom Fence on our dogs for nearly 20 years. Clearly not the same dog but each one we have used it on it has been a huge success. We have always had happy well-balanced dogs and I believe this is partly due to the freedom our dogs have had.”
